Purdy Petite Piggies For You

The American Mini Pig Association is proud to introduce Cara Appel of Purdy Petite Piggies in Surry, Virginia as a Registered Breeder Member. Cara has taken the required steps to stand out as an honest, ethical, transparent, and supportive mini pig breeder. She has agreed to follow the AMPA Breeder Code of Ethics. Her website and social media have been screened and approved by AMPA, and she has taken photos of measurements of her pigs proving their size without a doubt to avoid confusion or misunderstandings with new pig parents. Cara has taken the steps necessary to bring together expectation and reality! She provides thorough screening of potential pig parents and offers life time support for the pigs and their families.

Cara’s life has been dedicated to caring for animals. She was raised on a small town Virginia farm, spending time with pigs from a very young age. Cara surrounds herself with like minded animal lovers. Her fiance shares her love of the country life in their home town. They have been breeding mini pigs for over 5 years forming Purdy Petite Mini Pigs

Cara is passionate about making sure mini pig parents are prepared for these unique pets. By registering all her breeding pigs with the AMPA, she proves her honesty and transparency with the true sizes and ages of her mini pigs. She knows all too well the scams and misleading breeding practices that are rampant in the mini pig community. Cara herself was misled with her first pair of mini pigs who grew far larger than promised. She made it her mission to research, learn, and gain experience to ensure future pig parents are not misled the way she was.

Purdy Petite Piggies focuses on quality, petite, and healthy pigs. Cara cares about her pigs so much she goes the extra mile to have non GMO feed specially mixed at a local mill. She makes sure the piglets have plenty of time with their mom before age appropriate weaning. All her pigs enjoy the quality of life they deserve.

Cara has been involved in rescuing animals since the age of 8 years old. She has a huge heart for any animal in need. She is often found taking in abandoned, displaced, or neglected animals. She gets them proper veterinary care, spays or neuters, and screens homes to find the best forever family to love them.

Cara has a policy to take back any of her mini pigs for any reason if the owner is no longer able to care for them. She ensures her pigs will never want for a good home. Cara is a shining example of a responsible breeder. She sets a standard that other breeders strive to meet.

Purdy Petite Piggies website mentions: “We are a proud breeder of Juliana pigs, Mini potbelly pigs, and pygmy goats. We strive for beautiful and healthy petite pigs and goats. We do not use the terms “micro, teacup, pixie” etc as we feel it gives the wrong impression. A mini pig can weigh anywhere from 40-150lbs.
